Musashi Film Clip

The only known moving film of either battleship is this short clip from an IJN newsreel, reputedly from 1942, showing the future Commander in Chief of the Combined Fleet, Admiral Mineichi Koga being greeted upon arriving onboard Musashi. It is possible however, that this clip was filmed in June 1943, when the Admiral, after becoming CinC of the Combined Fleet following Admiral Yamamoto's death in April 1943, was photographed on board Musashi with other officers.

Only a part of the superstructure is visible before the scene ends. The details of these these two ships were 'top secret' within Japan during the war so no other footage of either one of them survives.
