A smaller ship, likely a destroyer, has been hit by bombs and is burning in the upper left corner of the photo.
This photo also illustrates the remarkably tight turning radius of Yamato (and Musashi). For 880 foot long, 73,000 ton battlewagons, they could practically "turn on a dime".
